    Rigel Engineering, LLC has developed the Altair family of rugged, conduction-cooled small form factor (SFF) processor systems engineered to address the stringent Size, Weight, and Power-Cost (SWaP-C) constraints of today’s critical mission computers in avionics and vehicle platforms. The Altair rugged mission computers utilize Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) components and feature full system-level flexibility by incorporating a COM Express Compact or Basic sized Single Board Computer module (SBC), a PMC/XMC slot and two MiniPCIe sockets.


    It supports a huge variety of Basic and Compact Type 6 COM Express processor modules. The footprint of the CB2600 is the same physical size as a Basic size module (125 x 95 mm) and is ideal for use processsor modules in space constrained and rugged environments.


    It was designed as a scalable carrier that enables the Altair SFF System's IO options to be easily modified to meet specific customer requirements. The CB2603 supports an assortment of Type 6 processor modules, a PMC or XMC slot, two miniPCIe sockets, two embedded SATA SSDs and a MIL-STD704 150 watt power supply with optional hold up (MIL-STD704F).


    Rigel’s model CM4301 COM Express® processor module is based on the Intel® Atom 3800 processor series and was designed to perform reliably in extreme or harsh environments. The CM4301 is a COM Express® Mini form factor (55mm x 84mm) SBC that supports COM Express type 10 signaling plus an array of standard features.
